The Music Icon Portrays a Twisted Persona of Herself in Fictional Documentary First Look

Charli XCX is preparing for a significant cinematic presence in 2026, kicking off with the satirical film titled The Moment.

In the film, the artist portrays what she refers to as a dark version of her public image.

It’s the truest representation of the entertainment world that I’ve ever witnessed, Charli stated.

She further explained in an interview: It’s not a tour documentary, however the inspiration stemmed from the expectation to create one.

An Early Look into The Project

The debut trailer, launched on recently, mixes authentic footage from her live performances with fictionalized off-stage interactions.

The Moment is directed and co-written by Aidan Zamiri, who revealed that the story centers on a scenario where the singer made entirely different choices in the marketing of her hugely successful record Brat.

A Packed Movie Lineup

The film is just one of numerous future screen roles for the musician, who recently appeared in three cinematic festival entries in the current year.

Furthermore took on her own role in the comedy series Overcompensating.

What’s Next

The following year will also include Charli alongside Olivia Wilde in romantic thriller I Want Your Sex, Natalie Portman in gallery suspense The Gallerist, and Barbie Ferreira in horror remake Faces of Death.

Additionally, she joined to feature in Dakota Johnson’s maiden directing project A Tree in Blue.

Soundtrack Involvement

Next February will also see the debut of Emerald Fennell’s version of Wuthering Heights, which will showcase original songs from the singer.

She is also set to provide music for the drama Mother Mary, starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, scheduled for release soon.

The Moment is set to premiere on the 30th of January.
