World Series Game 7 Captures 51M Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japan Markets.

The exciting extended matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51 million spectators across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB reported this is the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday epic game averaged 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched World Series matchup after the 2017 Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement compared to the previous Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 was 7th, the fifth game came in 8th, and the third game finished in thirteenth position.

Global Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game drew 11.6M viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 PM local time, it drew 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series MVP Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – averaged 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Trends

The entire seven-game World Series averaged 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two straight years.

Counting the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the complete US average was over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to last year and the network’s best postseason performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in sixteen different languages.
